At Custom Blinds we stand behind the quality of our products and workmanship. Every product comes with comprehensive warranty protection combining manufacturer guarantees with our own installation warranty. We manage all warranty claims directly so you have a single point of contact for any issues.

What Is Covered Under Manufacturer Warranty

Our manufacturer warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship for all product components including:

  • Fabrics and Materials Manufacturing defects in blind fabrics shutter slats and awning materials from suppliers including BlindsMART, Aluvert, Hunter Douglas, Coulisse and Quantum Products, Somfy and other suppliers or vendors.
  • Mechanisms and Hardware Operating systems brackets tracks headrails and mounting components
  • Motors and Automation Somfy Sonesse motors MotionBlinds systems and control components as per manufacturer specifications
  • Structural Components Frames bars and support structures for shutters awnings and outdoor products

This warranty is provided by the original manufacturer and administered by Custom Blinds® on their behalf. Products from Somfy, MotionBlinds, Hunter Douglas and other premium brands carry their own manufacturer warranties which we honour and facilitate.

What Is Covered Under Installation Warranty

For products professionally installed by Custom Blinds across the Garden Route we provide a one year installation warranty covering:

  • Errors in measurement or fitting
  • Faulty brackets or mounting hardware installed by our team
  • Improper operation resulting from installation issues
  • Electrical connections and wiring for automated systems

Important Note: Products delivered nationwide for self installation are covered by manufacturer warranty only. Installation warranty applies exclusively to products fitted by Custom Blinds installers.

Warranty Exclusions and Limitations

The following circumstances are not covered under warranty:

  • Act of God and Extreme Weather Damage caused by storms floods fire lightning earthquake hail or other natural disasters
  • Misuse or Neglect Damage from improper use excessive force incorrect operation or failure to follow care instructions
  • Lack of Maintenance Failure to clean service or maintain products as advised in product care guidelines
  • Unauthorized Modifications Alterations repairs or adjustments performed by anyone other than Custom Blinds® or authorized service providers
  • Improper Use Products used in ways not recommended or in environments unsuitable for their design specification
  • Normal Wear and Tear Gradual fading from sunlight UV exposure natural aging and degradation over time
  • Accidental Damage Impact damage scratches breakage or damage caused by accidents or third parties
  • Incorrect DIY Installation Problems arising from customer installation of delivered products

Warranty Conditions

To maintain valid warranty coverage customers must:

  • Use Products as Advised Follow all care maintenance and operation instructions provided at time of purchase and installation
  • Regular Maintenance Clean products regularly and service motorized or mechanical components according to manufacturer recommendations
  • Appropriate Environment Use indoor products indoors and outdoor products in outdoor applications as specified
  • Prompt Reporting Report any defects or issues as soon as they are discovered to ensure timely assessment and resolution

How to Submit a Warranty Claim

If you experience an issue with your Custom Blinds® product follow these steps:

Step 1: Contact Us

Email our team at sales@customblinds.co.za with the subject line “Warranty Claim”. Include your name contact details and a brief description of the issue.

Step 2: Provide Photos

Send clear photographs showing the problem from multiple angles. Photos help us assess the issue quickly and determine the best solution.

Step 3: Assessment

Our team will review your claim and verify your purchase records. We keep all installation and purchase records on file for your convenience.

Step 4: Resolution

Once your claim is approved we will arrange the appropriate remedy:

  • For Products Installed by Custom Blinds® Our qualified installers will remove the product for assessment or repair. If replacement is required we will install the new product at no additional cost
  • For Online Purchases and Delivered Products You will need to carefully remove and return the product to us for assessment. We will provide return instructions and arrange replacement or repair once received

Warranty FAQs

Does warranty cover fabric fading from sunlight

Normal fading from UV exposure and sunlight over time is considered natural wear and tear and is not covered. However premature or excessive fading caused by manufacturing defects is covered under manufacturer warranty.

What if I move house during the warranty period

Warranties are non transferable and apply to the original purchaser and installation location. Products cannot be moved and reinstalled under warranty coverage.

Can I claim for storm damage to outdoor blinds

Storm damage and extreme weather events are considered Act of God and are excluded from warranty coverage. We recommend retracting outdoor blinds during severe weather warnings.

Do I need to keep my invoice for warranty claims

No. We maintain complete records of all purchases and installations. Your details are on file and can be verified when you submit a claim.

What happens if a product is discontinued

If your exact product is no longer available we will provide the closest equivalent or upgraded replacement at no additional cost.

Are there warranties for commercial installations

Yes. The same warranty terms apply to both residential and commercial installations.

How long does a warranty claim take to process

We assess all claims promptly. Resolution timeframes vary depending on the nature of the issue and whether replacement parts are needed from manufacturers.

Care and Maintenance Guidelines

To keep your warranty valid and extend the life of your products we recommend:

  • Regular Cleaning Dust blinds and shutters weekly with a soft cloth or vacuum on low setting. Clean outdoor products monthly to remove salt and debris in coastal areas
  • Gentle Operation Operate blinds and shutters smoothly without forcing. Do not pull cords or chains at angles
  • Motor Maintenance For automated systems check battery levels and lubricate moving parts annually as per manufacturer specifications
  • Weather Awareness Retract outdoor blinds and awnings during high winds heavy rain or storm warnings
  • Professional Service Contact Custom Blinds® for annual service checks on motorized systems and large outdoor installations
