No Drill Blinds Tension Mount
We’ve added a no-drill option to our indoor roller blind range. It’s a tension-mount system that grips securely inside your window frame without drilling, adhesives, or wall damage. Perfect for renters, students, landlords, or anyone who wants a simple installation that leaves no marks. Available in white brackets only, compatible with all our indoor roller blind fabrics. Not suitable for outdoor blinds.
What Are No Drill Blinds?
No drill blinds use adjustable tension brackets that fit inside your window frame. You position the white bracket, twist the dial to expand it, and it grips firmly using spring-loaded pressure. No screws, no adhesive strips, no holes in your walls. Once locked in place, you clip your roller blind onto the brackets. Installation takes under a minute per window once you’ve done your first one.
Why Choose No Drill Blinds from Custom Blinds?
- Zero Wall Damage: Tension brackets leave no holes, marks, or adhesive residue when removed. Ideal for rentals where drilling isn’t allowed.
- Heat-Resistant System: Unlike adhesive blinds that fail in South African heat, our mechanical tension system isn’t affected by temperature or humidity.
- Genuinely Fast Installation: If you can twist a dial, you can install these. Most people finish their first window in under 5 minutes with no tools or experience needed.
- Reusable and Portable: Moving house? Just twist to release, take them down, and reinstall in your new place. They work unlimited times.
- All Indoor Roller Blind Fabrics: Choose from blockout, sunscreen, light filtering, or translucent fabrics. Add the no-drill option at checkout and white tension brackets are included.
- Forgiving Installation: The adjustable tension system allows for minor measurement errors, so small mistakes won’t ruin your installation.
Important: No-drill brackets are designed for indoor roller blinds only and are not available for outdoor blinds.
Tension Mount vs Adhesive Blinds
Many competitors offer adhesive no-drill blinds, but here’s why our tension system performs better in South African conditions:
| Feature | Custom Blinds Tension Mount | Adhesive Blinds |
|---|---|---|
| Heat Resistance | Unaffected by temperature | Adhesive fails in SA heat |
| Durability | Lasts for years | Weakens over months |
| Removal | No residue, no marks | Often leaves sticky residue |
| Reusability | Reinstall unlimited times | Single-use adhesive strips |
| Weight Capacity | Supports heavier fabrics | Limited to lightweight only |
| Adjustment | Easy to reposition | Permanent once stuck |
How to Install No Drill Blinds
The tension-mount system installs in three simple steps:
- Position: Place the white bracket inside your window frame (one on each side)
- Twist: Turn the tension dial to expand the bracket until it grips firmly against the frame
- Attach: Click your roller blind into the brackets – installation complete
That’s it. No brackets to screw in, no tape to stick down, no tools needed at all. Watch the video above for a visual demonstration.
Who Are No Drill Blinds For?
- Renters: You can’t drill into your landlord’s walls but still want proper window coverage
- Students: Residence rules don’t allow drilling, or you’re moving between accommodation every year
- Landlords: Provide blinds for tenants without worrying about installation damage to your property
- Heritage Buildings: You don’t want to drill into delicate, vintage, or protected window frames
- Temporary Solutions: You need blinds now but plan to do proper renovations or replacements later
- DIY-Nervous People: You’re not confident with power tools and prefer a foolproof installation method
How to Measure for No Drill Blinds
Accurate measurements ensure the best tension fit. Our no-drill blinds are designed for inside mount only (fitting within the window frame).
- Measure Width: Measure the inside width of your window frame at three points – top, middle, and bottom. Use the smallest measurement.
- Measure Height: Measure from the top of the frame to the sill. If there’s no sill, measure to your desired length.
- Check Depth: Ensure your window frame has at least 40mm depth for the tension brackets to fit properly.
- Round Down: If your measurement includes 1 or 2 millimetres, round down to the nearest whole 5 mm mark for the best fit.
Note: If measurements vary by more than 6mm between the three width measurements, the tension system may not achieve optimal grip. Contact our team for advice.

What Customers Say
“Put up 6 blinds in my flat in about 15 minutes total. My landlord was happy there were no holes, and they’ve stayed up through summer heat. Great for renters.”
– Thandi M., Johannesburg
“I tried adhesive ones before and they fell after two weeks. These tension brackets are completely different – actually solid and secure. Much better system.”
– Johan P., Cape Town
“Used them in my res room, then took them to my first flat after I graduated. Still using them three years later. Worth it.”
– Lerato K., Stellenbosch
Common Questions
Do they really work without drilling?
Yes. The tension brackets use adjustable pressure to grip inside your window frame. No screws, no drilling, no damage.
Will they fall down in hot weather?
No. Unlike adhesive blinds that can fail in SA’s heat, the mechanical tension system isn’t affected by temperature. They stay put.
Can I use these in a rental?
That’s exactly what they’re designed for. They don’t leave any marks or holes when you remove them.
What if my measurements are slightly off?
The tension system has some flexibility for minor measurement errors. But accurate measurements are still important for the best fit.
What colour are the brackets?
They come in white, which blends with most standard window frames.
Can I reuse them if I move?
Yes. Just twist to release, take them down, and reinstall in your new place. You can reposition them as many times as you need.
Do they work on all windows?
They need a standard rectangular window with at least 40mm depth for inside mounting. If your windows are unusual (arched, very shallow, etc.), contact us first.
How long does installation take?
Under a minute per window once you’ve done one. Your first one might take 5 minutes while you figure it out.
Which blinds can I get with no-drill brackets?
Only indoor roller blinds from Custom Blinds. Just select your fabric, then add the “No Drill Mount” option when you order online. Not available for outdoor blinds.
